Investigation of Oxidative/Antioxidant Effects of Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) Supplementation on Heart Tissue in Adult Rats

n present study, the effects of curcumin supplementation on oxidative stress and antioxidant defense system in heart tissue adult rats were investigated. Sixteen (8-weeks-old) selected divided into two groups. The first group is experimental these (n=8) gavaged with curcumin, dissolved corn oil, at a dose 300 mg/kg per day for 28 days. second control group, this given equal amount oil to eliminate porter effect. Euthanasia was performed total capacity (TAS), oxidant (TOS), malondialdehyde (MDA) glutathione (GSH) levels analyzed from tissues. Curcumin resulted significantly increased GSH levels(P0.05). (TAS) (TOS) ratios found be statistically significant. In other supplemented MDA tended decrease compared there no significant difference between protects against damage strengthens rats.
